San Fran Beauty for Creative Expressions

This week for my final project using the background stamps, I decided a layout was in order! I love to do layouts and try to always have at least one for my Creative Expressions projects each month!  For today's layout I found a cute photo of my youngest Aisling during a trip to San Francisco...you can see the skyline in the distance as I snapped this on a boat we were taking out to Alcatraz!  I decided to choose the cool architectural paper from the Tim Holtz Crowded Attic Paper Stash as the base of the layout because we were visiting a big city with some great turn of the century architecture! The ruler design was also taken from the Crowded Attic papers.

I used the Feather Background A6 Stamp to make my own backing paper layers for this, using Cosmic Shimmer True White Detail Embossing Powder and their very sturdy A4 White Cardstock. I inked up the paper with Tumbled Glass and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks and edged the papers and photos with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I used the gorgeous That Special Touch Chevron Mask and Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste to make the chevron patterns on the background and sprayed them with the Antique Rose Vintage Mist. I also used the Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to color the background paper.

For my flower cluster I included Pink Zipper Flowers and Silver Satin Roses.  The smaller blue roses were cut from the Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms die from the A4 white cardstock and inked in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to tie in with the rest of the layout.  Finally I added the Steam Blue Vintage Ribbon throughout the cluster as an accent.

The title was made with fun Tim Holtz Ransom Alpha Parts and I finished off the photos and the edges of the layout with some machine stitching.

Life's a Beach - A Shadow Box Kit Frame for La La Land Crafts!

This week our theme over at LaLa Land Crafts is TicTac Toe...we had to choose a line to use for our own tic tac toe project.

I decided to do the center vertical line: Chipboard, Cream, Twine

For the base of my project I used the gorgeous Seashell Shadow Box Kit which I painted with cream paint from my stash. I inked around the edges in Walnut Stain Distress Ink, coloring in the seashell at the top of the box as well, and adding a pearl.

I really layered up the edges with lots of the LaLa Land Crafts dies!!  I used the Large Flourish Die on the top and bottom of the frame to add detail. The Berry Flourish looks great tucked in like seaweed behind the twine netting. I added the stunning Hot Air Balloon die along the top edge in pink to tone in with the pink tshirt my daughter is wearing in the photo. The Rolled Rose Small and Medium die was used to make some sweet flowers in pink to add to my frame.  I added the Scalloped Banner die for a bit of whimsy!   As a final touch, I added some gorgeous resin embellisments, a seashell and starfish tangled up in the net and if you look behind the flourishes, you can see a little crab peeking out!

I really hope you like it! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Cherish Good Times: A Layout for Frosted Designs February Shades of Spring Kit

This week I have done another ballet themed layout. I just had to!! I hadn't used the May Arts Tutu Tulle trim in the kit yet!! I've used it here to make....a tutu, lol, and the trim and ribbon for my tag!

For this layout I used lots of goodies from the kit, making my own tag as an embellishment and main part of my layout! I was able to use the Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade from the kit long with the Juniper Adirondack paint dabber and the yummy Dot Fade stencil from Tim Holtz.  My tutorial this month will show you how to create a great layered background on your tag using an emboss distress technique along with some water spritzing and stencil and molding paste work.

To start with, take some white card, Versamark, and your Kaisercraft Sheet Music background stamp, which you can find here in the Frosted Designs store.

Ink the stamp up with Versamark and then emboss it using the gorgeous Orbit Olive Gold Embossing Powder from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

Using the Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, add the colors using your applicator foam. I mixed the two colors together as well to get a lovely orange shade that toned in well with the Basic Grey Fresh Cut papers in the kit. Give a little wipe over the embossed areas to clean away the distress ink and make the stamped image stand out even more.

Add some drops of water for a very cool effect on the distress inks!!! The water drops effectively bleach out the colors of the distress ink and really add texture to the background.

For a finishing touch to the tag I added some molding paste using the Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil included in the kit. I thin added the Tutu Tulle Trim to the bottom and as an accent on the top of the tag. The tag is now ready to add to the layout.

I used several different sheets of the gorgeous Basic Grey Fresh Cut paper, cutting out a doily shape with my Mini-8 punch for the layer behind the tag and adding some fussy cut flowers from another sheet. I added some of the raw wooden pieces here, as they didn't need any embellishment and added another color and texture to the design.  Here you can see where I fussy cut my daughter Aine in a ballet pose and added a 3D tutu to her using the gorgeous May Arts Tutu Tulle.

I added some stickers from the Fresh Cut sticker sheet included in the kit and added some gorgeous Kaisercraft blooms to the cluster and the some Petaloo pink hydrangea blossoms from the January kit!!

I also used the Tim Holtz dot fade stencil and molding paste to add gorgeous texture to the background page. I love how the tag blends the colors from the other papers and creates a backdrop for my photo! I hope you like it!

More Than Words!

Visible Image have made some gorgeous new stamp sets incorporating some great verses, sentiments and flower silhouettes. They are just STUNNING!! Above I have used the Thinking of You set and done a shabby chic version using lace, layers, stitching and a soft brown and blue color pallette. I added a few pearls for an elegant detail.

For my With Sympathy card, I went for a more masculine look using blacks and grey blues. Black stitching and stamping here, and layers lifted up help make this card. I added a simple black pearl for a final detail.

Joy Tag for Creative Expressions

This week I used Perfect Medium and Cosmic Shimmer Denim Lilac Embossing Powder to emboss my gorgeous Umount A6 Leafy Background stamp for this tag. Using the emboss resist technique I distressed the tag using Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks.

I cut a gorgeous butterfly die cut from my Spellbinders Fanciful Flight die set, inking it with the Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean inks again. I used several ribbons and a lace here on the tag: the gorgeous 1.5" Aqua Silky Crush Ribbon, 3/8" Cobalt Jade Iridescent Sheer Ribbon, Steam Blue Vintage Ribbon and 1.5" Cream Crochet Ribbon which I inked in Mowed Lawn Distress Ink to tie in with the tag.

For finishing touches I added two Three Crystal Bead Pins in the Aqua Crush Ribbon and then the word "Joy" using Tim Holtz Ransom Alpha Parts.
